About
Ms. Hinrichs is a researcher working in the Washington, D.C. area. Her areas of expertise encompass the maritime domain and polar regions, with a particular focus on commercial shipping trends and spatiotemporal track analytics. Her current work supports research improving predictive models and remote sensing application development for real-world use of movement data, including developing publicly accessible data products to improve maritime Safety of Navigation globally.
Ms. Hinrichs is a certified Virginia Master Naturalist, serving with the Arlington Regional Master Naturalists. Master Naturalists are trained volunteers working to restore and maintain healthy ecosystems in our fragmented public lands. Ms. Hinrichs collects and shares data, contributing to several citizen science projects supporting stream water quality monitoring, bluebird nestbox monitoring, and biodiversity observations recording.
Ms. Hinrichs is Chapter Committee Chair for the Philanthropic Education Organization (P.E.O.). Her work for P.E.O. supports six international philanthropies and five projects designed to aid women pursuing their educational goals. More than 120,000 women have benefited from P.E.O.'s educational grants, loans, awards, special projects, and stewardship of Cottey College.
